USGS - Earthquakes

Last Chance!!

It's your last chance to make a donation to GABR via pick-up donation. The sponsor webpage will still be up this weekend as far as I know. Don't quote me on that, though. :)

We're only asking to reach 50 more dollars! Please help us out!!! We're almost to our new goal of $300.

If you would still like me to pick up a donation of monetary value or from the list provided here, please go ahead and call me @ 442-1283 (Indianapolis area code.)

For online donations, please use this page.

Most of the proceeds will be going to a Basset rescue in Louisiana. How can you not want to help out an organization that did this?

A Staunchly Conservative Republican Supports Judge Roberts?????

Who woulda thunk it!!!

Basically, "Thanks for contacting your Senator. I don't give a damn about you!"

Oh no you dinnit!

She did. Madison just bit me right on my hip. It's bleeding and hurts. Now she's trying to chew up whatever's around her in her crate. Bad girls don't go to Basset Waddles. >=(

New Basset to GABR

On Wednesday, GABR's Air Force (Roman Robles) flew
to Cleveland to pick up Lucy, a refugee from
Louisiana. She was found in the water trying to get
to her 4 puppies.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lucy's story will be told at The Bash on Saturday. If
she's feeling better, she'll make an appearance.
When Roman landed at Cleveland, he found a tv crew
there. WKYC, the Cleveland NBC affiliate, was there
to do a story on Roman, Guardian Angel and Lucy. If
you'd like to see the story, click on the link below
and then click on "Play Video"
See Lucy's story here. Very touching. :)
Please help make a contribution to GABR. A large portion of the proceeds for the waddle this weekend will go to a Basset rescue based out of Louisiana.
Strange Question
I'm in dire need of an up-to-date dictionary. The dictionary I have used for the past 18 years (since I was 6)is about 60 years old. This seems like a dumb question, but can somebody suggest a really good dictioinary that I can buy?
I may as well spill it
First off, in regards to the post I made earlier today, I'm going to budget myself for spending around $15 in donating goods. I've spent $2 so far. Walgreens has cereal bowls @ 4/$1. I picked up 8. They're decent size, so at least a smaller dog can eat out of them. I wouldn't suggest a dog the size of a Great Dane to do so. :P
In other news, Adam's mother has brain cancer. I don't know all of the specifics yet. It's all so confusing and overwhelming. One day she's fine, the next she's in the hospital. She's doing okay. Her spirits are high, and she's being normal momma-out-law. She has radiation treatments on her brain Monday-Friday for 4 weeks. After that, I don't know. She has several small tumors and lesions on her brain. According to the doctor, the cancer most likely started in her lungs. That's all I really know. If she's going to be in the hospital for a while, I'm going to take her crochet hooks and some yarn to her. She wants to make some blankets for Project Linus with me. :) She's doing great. Please keep her in your prayers as well as Adam and Lori.
I've been trying to promote the hell out of the Waddle. I know I've made several posts about it more in the past couple of days, but I really think that's me trying to ignore the mother-out-law thing. So, please bear with me. The waddle is on Sunday, and I'll be gone Saturday. ;)
I'm trying to ignore the unignorable.
Louisiana Humane Society needs supplies, not money. This is not contrary to the Looziana Basset Rescue!
I just received this e-mail. If anybody has any donations of the type listed, please let me know. I will take them, in your name, to the Waddle this Saturday. This is not contrary to the Looziana Basset Rescue needing donations! The Looziana Basset Rescue is a separate entity on it's own that fosters pets. Those pets need money since they are not going to a larger organization!
Dear Codi & Adam,
Here's another chance for Guardian Angel to help the
animals affected by Hurricane Katrina.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Pet Supplies Needed For Louisiana Humane Society

In the New Orleans area alone, there are thousands
of homeless pets that have been separated from
their owners through no fault of their own. The
owners, themselves in temporary shelters, are
counting on the generosity of others to sustain their
pets until they and their animals can be reunited.

One of our supporters, Collette Walker, asked me if
she could have a van available at The Waddle to
collect supplies for the Louisiana Humane Society.
She then informed me that she would be driving them
down to Louisiana in the near future. Of course I
said "Yes - let's do it"!

Louisiana Humane Society - http://www.humanela.org/

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
They don't want money - they want supplies!
Here's what they need:
  • Dog and cat food (dry or canned)
  • Specialty dog and cat food (senior food, etc.)
  • Bird food
  • Horse food
  • Dog and cat treats
  • Collars and leashes
  • Crates and cages of any size (dog, cat, bird or small animal) - large crates are especially needed!
  • Towels—all sizes!!
  • Blankets
  • Dog and cat toys
  • Kitty litter
  • Bowls
  • Batteries (all sizes / types)
  • Flashlights
  • Non-Perishable food for the volunteers working at the
    shelter
  • Water-proof walkie-talkies
  • Heavy-duty gloves
  • Animal medical supplies
  • Insect repellent & sunscreen
  • We are still taking donations for the GABR Rescue which will make a large contribution to the Looziana Basset Rescue. If you would still like to donate, please do. You have until Saturday to do so. If you do not have a credit card, but would like to donated, please contact me at codirocksout at gmail dot com and we can arrange a payment via paypal, or I can come pick it up. I do, however, have class tomorrow, but am open the rest of the time between then and Saturday (tonight included). Well, minus meeting up with Sarah at Lazy Daze. :)
    Also, if you would like to make one of the above donations, e-mail me at the address above, as well. I have contacted the head of GABR to see if the items can be used or need to be brand new!
    More information about the Waddle can be found here.
    Also, please feel free to pass this along!
    Less Than Five Days Until the Waddle
    Okay folks, we have less than 5 days left until the Waddle in Dwight, IL. So far, we have raised $190. A lot of which came in today from various donations online, checks sent in the mail, and personal donations picked-up. Our original target was $200. However, we have since raised our target amount to $250. I think it's fair to say that we can raise $60 in less than 5 days. We would, however, like to reach over our target goal. 'Cause ,you know, it feels good to exceed a goal! :)
    If you'd like to still donate, but are unable to use a credit card (and sending a check at this point might be pushing it), you're more than welcome to paypal me the money, and I can e-mail you the receipt and copy of the pledge sheet with your name on it as proof (scanned and sent via e-mail, of course). If you'd like me to still pick-up money or a check, please e-mail me. We can work something out. If you'd rather just paypal me the money so you don't have to see/meet me, e-mail me about that too. :P My e-mail address is codirocksout at gmail dot com. Please include an appropriate subject line so I don't delete it or it get sent into my spam folder.
    Donate here online or e-mail me at the above e-mail address.
    Read the story to find out why GABR puts on the waddle.
    Don't forget folks, while we know that there are human victims of Katrina are in need of necessities, so are the animals. GABR will be donating a large portion of the profits from this event to the Looziana Basset Rescue to help get animals out of the flooded area and adopted to new homes!!
    Huh?
    Either I'm too tired to count or I royally fucked up this blanket with about 20 rows done so far.
    Will investigate tomorrow. It's probably best that way.
    Things to do
    We just finished some much needed grocery shopping, developing pictures, and eating dinner. We got some good stuff, finally. Adam decided since I'm a chip & salsa whore, that he'd rather make my tortilla chips for me. We do have a deep fryer after all! I can't wait to have some unsalted, no preservative tortilla chips. Aside from that, we bought 2 DVDs (The Ladykillers & Shaun of the Dead) and a toaster oven.
    Now onto things to do:
  • Take the gas can and cooler back to my Mom
  • Pick up a check from my Uncle for Madison
  • Finish reading Into the Wild
  • Start reading Nickel & Dimed
  • Study for my sociology test
  • Gather a list of resources for my Political Science paper. I wanted to write about the Supreme Court, but my prof. suggested I-69. Then he changed it to partial-birth abortions. I'll pass. Some other girl took it, which is fine. I really don't need the grief of writing such a paper in a 100 level class. It should be interesting what the other girl, a nursing student, will say about the matter.
  • Give Madison a bath before the waddle
  • See if Lori would like to have assistance/assist me in picking out yarn for her and Adam's Momma for the Linus Project.
  • Order Lost: The First Season - Yeah, this shit really isn't in my budget, but I...must...have!%@#%#@$^&*&#!!!11!
    Toni & Sarah, if you still want to donate for Madison, let me know. We can work something out. E-mail me! cosweile at iupui dot edu or whatever email is in my LJ user info.
