so far, so good!

you know it's going to be a good day when all of the mail is for you and it's not bills or junk mail! so far i've received, my gladrags x 3, my sociology text, a statement saying my student loan has been approved, and my pressure cooker is on the UPS truck! yay!

in other news, we're still seeking out donations for madison. all info can be found in the post from yesterday. spread the word. we're not asking for hefty donations, just a couple of bucks. we're really looking forward to taking madison to this event and helping out the other bassets!

two weekends before we go to the waddle (labor day weekend), we're going camping in st. louis with some friends and going lazy rafting and drinking. i can't wait. i need to get adam and i some nalgene bottles prior to going. i looked into the sigg aluminum, but i want 1L bottles, and they're kind of pricey. meh.

donate for madison!

Help support GABR by making a donation to Madison's page here.

madison (our basset hound) was adopted from GABR a few days before Christmas of 2004. She, unlike other bassets, didn't have it so bad. We're asking for your donations that go toward the Guardian Angel Basset Rescue in helping the not-so-fortunate bassets at the rescue. All proceeds to toward helping with the foster homes in covering food, shelter, supplies, and proper veterinary care. Here is Faith's story (another adopted basset). She is the reason they do the waddle!

meh

I'm really bad at posting to this thing. I need to get it more into my routine, but I don't generally have a lot to talk about. As for this weekend, that's a different story. I'll start on Thursday night.

I was pretty bored come Thursday with Adam being in Tokyo. DJ Shiva called me up around 10 pm to go to the Chatterbox to have some drinks. That was also the night of the perseids meteor shower. After we had a couple of beers, I came home and got Madison, and we decided to drive SE on I-74 far enough out of the city to see the shower. We drove around on the backroads until we could at least find a spot to park. It was really nice! I didn't get home until 4 am, which lead for a long Friday.

Saturday my mom came over to help me with canning some of our tomatoes from the garden. I had spent a few days blanching and freezing them so they wouldn't spoil prior to canning. After my mom got here, she was reading through the manual of the pressure cooker I bought. After about an hour, she figured out that it was meant for pressure cooking only! Great. My mom drove over an hour pretty much for nothing. I felt so bad. I tried calling several places (bed, bath & beyond, linens and things, etc.) to see if they carried any kind of pressure cooker/canner in their store. Nope! We eventually decided to give up, and we went to return the one I had back to the store. Since my mom drove all that way, I decided to buy her lunch at On The Border. It was pretty decent. I still need to do a write-up about it in Indy Eats. After all of that, my mom left, and it was definitely time for a nap.

Come Sunday, I was totally ready for the weekend to be over. I really just wanted Adam home. I got to pick him up at 6 pm, and then we went out to eat. He got me ALL kinds of candy, some kids' chopsticks, a hello kitty coffee mug with my birthdate on it, some stickers, and I'm pretty sure that was it. I'll take pictures later.

Adam's beeng writing technical reviews for the Abelton Powerbook, or whatever it's called. Yesterday was very nice outside, and I decided I wanted to go to the state fair yesterday. Adam wanted to go as well, but he shortly discovered that the editors of the book e-mailed him 11 chapters he had to review and edit in a day!? The deal was that he would get 2-3 chapters a day, and he would have to turn them in within 24 hours. I have no idea how many chapters he got through yesterday, but he worked on it all day. We will, go to the fair tonight if I have to break someone's arm to do so!

I got a small amount of my financial aid money in. I can at least pay the rest of this month's and next month's bills on time. Now I'm just waiting to get the rest so I can get a tattoo.
