No cable TV make Codi study

Accomplished today, so far.

  • Bought blank CDs to back up pictures and stuff off my HD, page tabs (those sticky tab things you put on pages. Very helpful!), college ruled paper, 2 "automatic" water bowls for the cats and dog, KFC for lunch, and looked for a new chair for the living room. Jess, you may inherit a blue papason chair in the future. We didn't find anythng at Goodwill, but we've planned to go to Michigan St. Antiques later this week.

  • 5 chapters of political science defined and explained, via Adam.

  • 1 page of W131 paper writting, and I even read the material in the book. You ought to be impressed as it's not my style.

  • dishes are DONE! and put away.

  • complied some links for my polisci research paper courtesy of [info]djshiva

    Now, I need a nap.
  • Thank you

I think I informally did this, but I'm going to do this again.

I want to thank everyone who helped out with Madison's donations for GABR a few weeks ago. As of the last count, they had raised over $30,000 in donations (excluding online donations) at the waddle. I'm sure the count is higher since we left the Waddle a tad bit early.

Going to that event really changed Adam and I, a lot. We learned a lot more about the organization, what they stand for, met all kinds of people, and of course, played with lots of Bassets!

I was talking to my Mom yesterday. I found a cute shirt for her, and Adam wants to get one for his Mom, as well.

While I'm on that note, we're getting Madison a toy chest for her birthday/Christmas. She was born on Christmas day for those who don't know.

Basically, we're going to try to get friends and family members who want to give Madison toys, to put them in the box. Yes, she is a fucking spoiled brat, and I love it! I told my Mom about it, and she thought it was a good idea. Madison loves squeaky toys like you wouldn't believe. Unfortunately, they usually get annihilated in a week's time.

So, we're going to try to fill this box for her!

    Homework

I'm feeling crappy but not as crappy as yesterday.

I'm going to dig into doing this W131 paper today, and I'm going to attempt to find non-biased research on I-69. I don't want to write this paper not being biased, because I am. I mean, a rock loving, playing-in-the-dirt-type-environmentalist writing a paper about how "good" I-69 in southern Indiana probably won't come out as being unbiased. Then again, half of the shit we talk about in my political science class is biased anyway. I hate that class. I don't dislike the professor entirely, but I'm almost certain the fact that him being an ex-marine and growing up with an ex-marine just rubs me the wrong way. Sorry I'm not all gung-ho about war, oil, economy and the likes. Adam told me it would be a great class for me to take, so I did. I'm not blaming Adam. He had no idea what kind of professor I would have, but when you take shots at certain groups of people that I'm for (e.g. Green Parties, Pro-Choice groups, etc.) I tend to walk into class with my defenses up. Now I'm just incessantly babbling.

Needed: One study buddy on the weekend.

I hate this. I hate being bored. I hate when supposed "friends" only call when they want something. I hate the lack of friends. I hate being here.

    gross

I've been rolling my own cigarettes again. It keeps me from smoking as much as I would if I bought a pack. Let's just say, I smoked 2 yesterday and about 10 today. When I went to buy my rolling tobacco, they didn't have the kind that I would normally buy (American Spirit Original). They had American Spirit Pow-Wow blend. Bad idea. Not only is it not rolling tobacco, but it also has sage in it, which I happen to be allergic to the smell. Well, prior to knowing that it contained sage, I took about 2 drags off of one cigarette, and now my stomach hurts. Guess I get what I deserve.

Just to ease my own mind

I stopped at the hardware store on my way home today to pick up some yard spray. I haven't done the yard yet, but I've sprayed my porch. Also, since I got this sudden burst of energy, I gave Madison a flea bath. Hmmm, funny. I didn't see any motherfucking fleas in that tub since they kill fleas on the spot.

I know I'm overreacting, but I just think it's rude and bizzare that he would come to us about the fleas. Almost everyone else in here owns cats. Why does it have to be us? I'm not saying that it isn't possible because it is, but the fact that he didn't tell anyone else is what's getting me worked up. Please recall my stolen bicycle incident from this summer. He didn't tell anyone about that too. Hey, maybe it's my landlord that has the fleas. That's possible too! :P

I'm debating on giving the cats a bath. I checked Stoli yesterday and Jaeger this morning. Of course, I found no fleas.

Now I'm dealing with the psychosomatics of itching bugs. Of course, I've been digging on myself when there's nothing there. The only thing we do have is dust mites, and those are being taken care of as much as possible. I've conquered the bedroom with vacuuming, washing everything, and spraying the bed down with alcohol (I heard it works. *shrug*). I'll probably do the living room tomorrow since I don't have to take momma-out-law to radiation therapy. I also need to dive into some of this homework and get caught up. Apparently my political science prof. wasn't happy with my definitions for a quiz he didn't bother telling me the day that I missed that we were having a quiz the next class. What did you really expect? At least I attempted the fucking thing.

You've got to be shitting me

Our landlord came over today to pick up rent. As I was talking to him, he tells me that our apartment probably has fleas. I asked why he thought that. And he replied with, "Well, dogs are prime carriers of fleas!" Well, that's nice and all, but I buy flea/tick preventative for my dog, and was told that it wasn't necessary for the cats unless they were outdoors. You know, it couldn't possibly be from the people that let their cats outside as the cause of fleas on the porch. So now, I'm super paranoid, and will be picking up preventative from the vet clinic for the cats as well as some Yard Guard fogger for the yard when our landlord leaves. Just great. Don't question the care of my animals because you don't like dogs, asshat.

    Knitting for the Momma

Adam & Lori's Momma (my mother-out-law) came home from the hospital last night. Her hair's been falling out from the radiation treatment. Since I can knit, I decided I would make her some hats especially for winter. However, I've never even attempted to do circular knitting, and frankly, I'm a little scared. So, Lori hooked me up with some coupons to Joann's and Michaels for 40% off one item. I looked in the ad, and there was also a bag I'd been drooling all over on sale as well.

I went to Joann this morning and picked up these things: 2 skeins of Lion Brand Homespun Yarn in Coral Gables, The Knifty Knitter Round Loom Set With Hook & Bag (I know, it's cheating, but I'd like to get the hat to her before next fall ;), & This huge ass rolling knitting tote. I was able to fit 3 one pound skeins of yarn in there as well as the two homespun skeins (which aren't very big). On the sides, there's compartments for 14" and 8" needles. It's very swanky!

    Basset Hound Music? Que?

I ran into this site. It's called Basset Hound Music. This guy, Jim Self, is a tubist and has bassets. Well, in some of his music, he actually uses the howls from his hounds. So, of course, not only did I have to e-mail him about the Bassets, but I also e-mailed him because I used to play tuba, as well. He actually responded to me. I told him how cool it was since I am also a tubist and Basset owner. It's actually really good music. Not all of the songs have hounds in them. You should check it out! :)

    Oh yay, rude people!

I made a post to the Basset hound community about making a snood for Madison. She's been digging on her ears for the past two days, and I fear that it's leading to an ear infection. The snoods keep the dogs' ears out of food, water, grass, etc., and also allow them to air out. So, of course, I get a comment that's either a failed attempt to be rude or a failed attempt to be snarky. Frankly, I think they're ridiculous looking, but I'd rather keep from taking Madison to the vet if I can take care of things. Some people should probably just keep their comments to themselves. I really can't take a comment from someone who pretty much knows nothing about Bassets to heart, though.

Shiva, Jess and I went to see Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Decent movie. We came back to my place to chat on my porch. Almost the entire 45 minutes they were here, someone was knocking on the door at the neighbor's house (the one with the annoying kids). It's now 10 after 1, and he's still knocking. Apparently the woman answered the door and told him that he needed to leave. He yelled something about needing his money, and he's still knocking. It's kind of creepy really. I mean, there's probably 4 kids in that house and this guy comes over at 1 am knocking down the door? I think it's time to call the trusty IPD.

No sooner that I got off the phone with Shiva, IPD shows up.
